We might be busy revolutionising the rental market here at flatfair, but when we received an invite to the HBS Alumni Angels pitch event in London, it was an offer we simply couldn’t refuse.

flatfair is no stranger to the prestigious event, having qualified as a finalist this time last year and secured its first round of funding from several investors in the audience – but this year’s invite is extra special. On Wednesday 14 November, Founder & CEO, Franz Doerr, will be taking centre stage to share just how far the company has come since qualifying last year. Think new investors, members and impressive financial growth.

Wondering what the HBS Alumni Angels organisation does? Comprised of Harvard alumni interested in investing in high-potential companies, its members have invested in over 100 companies since the launch of the association in 2007. And, at events like this one, it connects angels and entrepreneurs, helping both groups enhance their skills and knowledge.

Taking place at The Caledonian Club in London, flatfair is one of just three companies (ever!) to be invited back to talk about its achievements, and according to the founders, there’s a lot of good news to share.

The company has already attracted millions in backing from leading investors – and it’s growing fast. “In the past year, we’ve attracted thousands more tenants and saved them millions in tenancy deposit costs,” says Franz. “That equates to an average monthly growth of over 50 per cent since our launch.”

“With the majority of tenants opting for flatfair over paying a traditional deposit, there’s a great product-market fit here,” says COO, Daniel Jeczmien. “Tenants, landlords and lettings agents are telling us that what we’re offering is of significant benefit to all parties because it’s a proven, credible alternative to deposits, which makes life simpler and safer for everyone involved in the rental process.”

However, while the flatfair team will be reflecting on their whirlwind year, that doesn’t mean they aren’t looking to the future.

“We have huge plans for next year,” says Strategy Lead, Bruno Thompson. “We’ll be adding a range of new features to the flatfair product and we intend to double our team by summer 2019. We won’t be resting on our laurels!”

Already the fastest-growing tenancy deposit alternative in the UK, it’s fair to say that flatfair looks set for even swifter growth in the coming year. Watch this space.
